Jess is a dance artist, producer, educator and researcher interested in the relationship between dance and music, or sound and movement and improvised performance. 

Her eclectic music background and interest in visual and performing arts have led her to collaborate with a wide range of different musicians and artists, performing in theatres, music venues, festivals, street-based and outdoor performances. 

Jess has collaborated with musicians, visual artists and creative technologists on projects such as the Arts Council England funded projects SoundMoves and Sound Catchers Jess is an associate artist with QuestLab Network at Studio Wayne McGregor which explores the uses of creative technologies in dance and performance.

Her pursuit of learning in tap dance has taken her to train in Berlin, Barcelona and on two occasions to New York. in 2006 Jess undertook a 3 month professional development project funded by Arts Council England to develop her improvisation and rhythm tap technique with many of New York’s leading tap teachers and performers.

Jess is always looking for new ways to expand her skills and knowledge. Following her curiosity has brought her to people and places all over the world. Jess holds a BA (Hons) History & Philosophy from The University of Manchester (2003), Masters with Distinction in Dance Theatre Practice from LIPA (2011) and a HND Contemporary Dance (A grade) from The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance, Dundee. 

Jess is currently undertaking a practice research Ph.D funded by Midland4Cities at De Montfort University researching ‘Improvisational Dramaturgy for Dance and Music Collaboration’.
